Reviews
Here’s what our guests have to say about us
Our stay was just wonderful. The cottage is so comfortable and cozy, the views are sublime and Donald and Peggy were such wonderful and helpful hosts. Donald suggested some nearby hikes that we really enjoyed. The photos on the website really don’t do justice to the beauty of the landscape. Not only did we enjoy soaking up the views, but watching Sammy and Jake in the yard. It was such a pleasure meeting and getting to know Donald and Peggy, that we were sad to have to part ways. Thank you again so much for your hospitality and the friendship that you extended to us. That is what makes a trip so special. Take care, Ed and Jan

We had such a lovely time at the Causeway. It is was a place we always looked forward to getting back to after a day’s exploration of the island. All the mod cons, super comfy chairs and stunningly beautiful views made for wonderful evenings in. Thanks to Peggy and Donald for their welcome.
Central location to all attractions on Skye
The chalet is located in a small secluded bay with easy access to shopping 20 minutes away in Portree via a picturesque trip over the hills and perfectly placed for all the sights and trips the Misty Isle has to offer.
Most sights are between a 20-60 minute drive away, including Dunvegan Castle, Fairy Pools, Old Man Stoor, Talisker Distillery, The Cullins or the famous Three Chimneys Restaurant.
Within 10 minutes walking distance you find a café with bookshop called the Bog Myrtle (a Scottish wild flower) or The Crofter’s Bite, that offers hot food from their pop-up street van.
Get real close to wildlife
The Amar river and the flow of ebb and tide in Loch Baeg provide a rich feeding ground for all kinds of wildlfe to be seen from the comfort of the terrace.
An otter familiy is often seen hunting and playing in the waters straight in front of the chalet alongside various duck species, that hatch their eggs here. Golden eagles circle our property and even land on the terrace.
Similarly both oyster catchers and sand pipers have previously made their nests in the garden in front of the chalet, making this the perfect place to get close-up photos of Skye’s wildlife. Bring your binoculars or use the ones we provide.
Surrounded by nature
Start your day with stunning views of the 100 meter vertical cliffs of Rubha nan Clach and it’s lighthouse when you step out on the terrace.
In July and August the heather blooms and covers everything in wonderful purple, it’s just beautiful.
A short walk from the chalet lies the preserved ruin of The Dun Beag Broch, where you’ll walk in the footsteps of the early iron age settlers on Skye. From here you have a spectacular views of both mountain ranges of The Cuillins and Macleods Tables as well as Loch Braccadale.
