Terms and conditions

Please read these terms so you know what services are included and what to expect, when you book your stay at The Causeway. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We will always try to help you as best as we can.

Definitions

Owner/We/Us – refers to the Owners of The Causeway, Peggy MacRaild.

Accommodation ­- The chalet known as The Causeway, booked by Booking Guest.

Booking Guest, You – The person booking the accommodation.

Guest, Guests – Maximum of two adult guests, listed on the booking form, as staying at The Causeway.

Rental Fee – The total charge in British Pounds in respect of booking the Causeway.

Terms – the terms in this document and any other terms provided to you in writing either physical or digital.

Check-in and check out – refers to the date and time at which the Accommodation becomes available to you and at which time you must vacate the Accommodation. 

When We use the words “writing” or “written” in these Terms, this will include email unless We say otherwise.

Booking

Guests can book directly from our website www.thecauseway-skye.co.uk or by contacting us on telephone or email. Also available without direct booking discount on Airbnb.com and Booking.com.

When booking on our website, the Booking Guest will receive an email that either confirms the booking request or rejects it.

When booking through Our website, the Booking Guest will be forwarded to a Reservation-sent page. This page does not form a contract between Us and the Booking Guest. 

Our receipt of a booking request does not form a contract between Us and the Booking Guest.

A contract is only established when the booking has been confirmed by email by Us and the deposit has been received by Us. 

The owners deem payment of Rental Fees as acceptance of these terms and conditions.

Payment

Payment is via bank transfer. Details will be in the acceptance mail.

All prices and payments are in British Pounds.

Any bank or transfer charges or exchange rate discrepancies shall be borne by you.

Deposit: 20 % of the total sum to be received within 3 working bank days from the day we send you a confirmation to the email you entered in the booking form.
The booking will be cancelled if we don’t receive the deposit by the date required.

Balance to be received by us no later than 14 days prior to Check-in. If we do not receive the balance within time the deposit will be forfeit and the booking cancelled.

If there is less than 14 days to Check-in from the time of booking, you must pay the full balance at once.

Please be aware, that bank transfers can take several days to complete.

Cancellation or non-usage

Please notify the Owners in writing via email ([email protected]) if you need to cancel your booking.

If you cancel

  • 14 days before Check-in you get a 100% refund,
  • 13-7 days before Check-in you get a 50% refund,
  • 6 days or less before Check-in you get no refund.

Refunds will either be paid back on the date of departure of the cancelled stay, or earlier at the discretion of the Owners.

Unless a booking has been cancelled in writing in accordance with these terms and conditions the Owners are not liable for Guests’ non-use of Accommodation due to disruption of transport, weather, illness, industrial action or any other reason beyond the Owners’ control and no refunds will be made in respect of such non-usage.

If We cancel

Bookings to stay at The Causeway are made in good faith that the Accommodation will be fit for purpose and available for the agreed length of stay. In the event of our Accommodation becoming unavailable due to a problem with the property or facilities, or due to circumstances beyond the Owners’ reasonable control, we have the right to either:

  • Cancel the booking prior to commencement of the rental period and refund in full all payments made up to the date of cancellation; or
  • If the rental period has already commenced, terminate your stay prior to the end of the rental period and refund the Rental Fee on a pro rata basis.

The Owners will have no further liability in respect of a cancelled booking in these circumstances.

Occupancy and house rules

The Causeway can only be used by the Booking Guest and Guest for recreational purposes and can not be sublet or used by a third party or used for commercial purposes or parties. 

Check-in: On the day of arrival between 3 PM and 7 PM. Other Check-in times can be arranged by prior arrangement.

Check-Out : On the day of departure no later than 10 AM.

The Causeway accommodates a maximum of 2 adult guests. No children, including infants are permitted at The Causeway.

No pets are permitted, either in the premises or around the premises.

Electric cars may not be charged at The Causeway.

The Causeway and its surrounding premises are strictly no-smoking and no-vaping.

Breakages must be reported. Accidental breakages will not be charged, however, damage to furnishings or installations may incur the cost of replacement or reparation.

Please always close all doors and windows when you leave. The main iron gate entrance is always to be closed, in order to keep out livestock.

The Owners expect and require all Guests to treat the Accommodation with respect and to be considerate and not cause a nuisance or disruption to The Causeway. The Owners reserve the right to demand immediate vacation of the Accommodation if Guests are not complying with these terms and conditions or where conduct is considered by us to cause, or be likely to cause, danger, upset or distress to a third party or be detrimental to the Accommodation or the reputation of the Causeway.
No refunds will be made in these circumstances.

What services are included?

Free Wifi is available but we do not guarantee the speed, bandwidth or the odd drop in signal.

Free parking outside the main entrance gate 20 metres from the chalet is available.

We provide

  • Crisp white quality bed linen, extra pillows and covers
  • Quality towels
  • Toiletries, toilet paper and tissues 
  • Alarm clock

You get a selection of basic starter food supplies, eg. milk, butter, cheese, crackers, tea, coffee, cereals, rice, pasta, sauces, fresh fruit, sweet treats, condiments, dishwasher tablets, washing machine tablets, cleaning materials and much more.

There is no cleaning fee, but we gratefully ask you to please help us by leaving the Causeway as clean and tidy as possible.

Liability

We can not accept liability for electrical outages or water interruptions due to adverse weather conditions or any other reason out of Our control.

The use of the Accommodation and grounds is at the guests own risk and the Owners accept no responsibility or liability for injury or death to guests.

Vehicles are the sole responsibility of guests, and the Owners are not liable for any damage caused to vehicles while at Our property or when using the parking outside the main gate and grounds.
